"Patriarchat abtreiben" (engl. 'abort patriarchy') scarf

Freeing ourselves and others from the constraints and expectations of white, cis-male dominated supremacy can be a long, hard, beautiful, painful, tiring and empowering process. Every day we face the challenge of finding our way in a society where we are discriminated against and oppressed in varying degrees and areas.

In the project #patriarchatabtreiben Merle (she/her) and Vivien (she/her) have dealt with that process of breaking free in all its facets. The final product of the joint work, in which Merle's know-how about textiles, printing and print design merged with Vivien's skills in type and graphic design, is the 90x90cm scarf on which the theme of the project is manifested. For the design, exclusively typographic forms of Vivien's typeface "NoNorm" were used, which she designed as part of the project module "Type&Feminism".
In the course of time, the idea was born to offer the piece for sale and thereby generate donations.

In the fight for the liberation and emancipation of trans people, Trans*sexworks cover a mostly overlooked area of activism.  With their work they support sex workers in their everyday life. With a cargo bike they are on the streets of Berlin and support people in the community outreach with the most necessary products, visits to the authorities and general advice. 

Next year, a night café is to be opened in Frobenstraße in Berlin. A place where street sex workers and homeless queers can come to shower, use the toilet, drink coffee, do laundry, use the internet, eat and much more. Through this very low-threshold contact, it is easier for many people to ask for support or to tell about e.g. domestic violence.
For the foundation of this cafe Trans*sexworks Berlin need financial support, because the yearly donation of the Berlin Landesdiskriminierungsstelle is not adequate. The entire profit will be donated to Trans*sexworks Berlin.
