In Greek mythology Prometheus is known for defying the gods by stealing fire from the to benefit humankind.
As a consequence for his theft, he is being punished by Zeus, king of the gods, to eternal torment.
Bound to a rock, an eagle is sent to eat his daily regrowing liver.
